Trump declares "Deadly" North Korea state sponsor of terror

Trump declares North Korea state sponsor of terror

USA President Donald Trump on Monday declared "Deadly" North Korea a state sponsor of terrorism, returning Kim Jong-Un’s nuclear-armed pariah regime to a short blacklist of targeted US foes.
“Should have happened a long time ago. Should have happened years ago,” Trump declared, announcing the designation at the start of a White House cabinet meeting.
North Korea is already under a wide array of United States and United Nations sanctions, and the terror designation will not have much immediate economic impact in itself.
But US officials see the designation — lifted by then-president George W. Bush in 2008 — as a way of ratcheting up the pressure on Pyongyang and especially on other states that may be failing to fully enforce the sanctions already in place.
“In addition to threatening the world by nuclear devastation, North Korea repeatedly supported acts of international terrorism including assassinations on foreign soil,” Trump said.
In February, Kim’s potential rival and elder brother Kim Jong-Nam died after he was sprayed with a nerve agent in Kuala Lumpur airport, in an assassination blamed on Pyongyang.
“As we take this action today, our thoughts turn to Otto Warmbier and others affected by North Korean oppression,” Trump continued, underlining the legal case for the designation.
US student Warmbier did this year aged only 22 after he was repatriated from detention in North Korea already in a coma. US officials allege he was tortured in custody.
Trump warned that, in addition to the terror designation, Washington is preparing yet another round of sanctions to force Pyongyang to give up its nuclear missile program.
“The Treasury Department will be announcing an additional sanction — and a large one — on North Korea,” he said.
“This will be going on over the next two weeks and it will be the highest level of sanctions,” he warned.
“The North Korean regime must be lawful and end its unlawful nuclear ballistic missile development and cease all support for international terrorism, which it is not doing.”
The White House has declared it will not tolerate Kim’s regime testing or deploying an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead to US cities.
Experts believe Pyongyang is within months of such a threshold, having carried out six nuclear tests since 2006 and test-fired several types of missiles, including multi-stage rockets.
Kim’s government insists it will defy international sanctions to develop a capability it believes is essential to defending itself from the threat of US and South Korean invasion.
Washington is also pressuring the North’s key trade partner and traditional ally China to turn up the sanctions pressure and force Kim to come to the table to discuss his disarmament.

Governor Fayose okays death penalty for cultists, terrorists
Gov. Fayose of Ekiti State

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has signed into law, the bill prohibiting secret cults, terrorism and prescribing death sentence on anyone caught in the act.

While appending his signature to the bill at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, Fayose said the law was a confirmation of the unwavering commitment of the state government to combating terrorism in the state.
A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, said the governor frowned on the resurgence of the scourge in the state, especially among students in tertiary institutions.

“From now, any person who is a member of a secret cult, whether or not the person is in possession or in control of any offensive weapon but commits the offence, is liable to conviction to death.
“Any person who gives financial or material support or assistance to a secret cult or in any manner sponsor the activities of a secret cult, commits an offence under this law and is liable for conviction to imprisonment for life” he said.

The governor further warned that anybody, who intentionally encouraged the organising of a secret cult meeting or activities in places such as houses, nightclubs, hotels and other places would be committed to life imprisonment.

Paul Okoye replies fan who said his voice sounds like “PSquare”

After the final breakup of singing group, “PSquare”, the Okoye brothers have since moved on to pursue their careers as individual solo artists.

Paul made his debut with new singles last week and performed at Phyno fest in Enugu over the weekend.
However, he is already facing criticism from folks who claim his voice sounds exactly like “PSquare”.

This of course gives credence to Paul’s earlier statement that he was the voice behind the defunct group, while Peter was the dancer. A claim the latter denied. See the exchange below.

Why I gave Tiwa Savage my hit song, Malo – Spellz

Why I gave Tiwa Savage my hit song, Malo – Spellz

When the song, Malo was released, music followers felt it was Tiwa Savage’s gift to her husband, Tee Billz. Their marriage was once in crisis, but they’ve found a way to make things work for the better.
But the producer of the hit song, Benjamin Spellz, popularly known as Spellz, insisted that it was not even in Tiwa Savage’s plans to drop the song when she did.
According to Spellz, “I did two songs on Tiwa’s EP. Malo was originally my song that I planned to release this year. So, when we wanted to put out her EP, she needed one more song. I was not in Nigeria at that time and Tiwa was in New York too. It was difficult to work together; so, I said we should add Malo to the EP.
“I saw it as our song since I featured Wizkid and Tiwa on it. And without their efforts, the song wouldn’t be made. I am not the type that holds on to things for too long. Since Tiwa liked the idea, I spoke to Wizkid as well and he liked it too.”

He added that Malo was the last song they did and the last song they put on the EP, but he knew it would make a lasting impact upon its release.
The producer added, “In fact, I don’t think we’ve seen the best of the song. When I produced Wande Coal’s Iskaba last year, I knew it would be a big song. A year after we did Iskaba, awards are still coming in for the song. How many songs do you produce and a year after, they are still relevant? In Nigeria, the lifespan of songs is just three months.”
Spellz explained that everyone played his or her parts in the making of the song. According to him, Tiwa wrote her verses and Wizkid wrote his as well.
“When we make songs, we come together. At the end of the day, we are only after the good of the song. So, everyone brought their own ideas for the good of Malo.”

Osinbajo speaks about the goodness in President Buhari

Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria's vice president has spoken about the character of President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Thursday, November 17 during a book launch.

Add caption

The book reviews the administration’s achievements during the last two years, Premium Times reports.
Here are some of words spoken by the VP.

1. Buhari’s frugality
The vice president lauded President Buhari over his habit of avoiding unnecessary expenditure.
He said the president decided to take only half of his salary since the government provides accommodation, food and transportation for the President and the vice president.
“He said he would take only half of his salary and so I had no choice but also to (offer) to take half of my own salary. Unfortunately, Mr. President turned down my request. He didn’t consider me a more worthy cause to give half of his salary (laughter)!”

2. Buhari’s honesty
Osinbajo also praised President Buhari for his honesty.
He said: “In a country where politicians sometimes want to be as wealthy as Dangote (Africa’s richest man), it is refreshing to have a President who most people won’t even dare to discuss any private benefit on a project let alone a bribe or a kick-back”, he said.

3. Buhari’s humility
He also praised the president for his humility. He said Buhari has an unassuming personality.
“I remember when he was on medical vacation, and I was speaking to him on the phone fairly regularly and giving him a rundown of what was going on, especially when he was on the first medical vacation. He said to me, “don’t worry about telling me all that is happening, I rely on your judgment, keep doing your best, what if I drop dead? You would have to run it anyway.” I had to say to him, that his dropping dead was not part of the plan,” he said.

4. Buhari’s sense of humour
Osinbajo also praised President over his sense of humour. He said the president understands that leadership, is not about self-adulation and self-aggrandisement.

5. Buhari‘s greatest challenge
Speaking on the president's greatest challenge.
He said: “The reality of honest and serious minded nation building is that in the short run, tough and unpopular decisions have to be made. I suppose you cannot be a Buhari and shy away from tough decisions, and the President has not been afraid to take the bold decisions even when they are criticised.”
